Beams Plus 5 Pocket Wide Denim — Black

A modern wide-leg take on the classic American five-pocket jean, reworked by Beams Plus in a heavyweight black denim built to age beautifully. The silhouette draws on workwear pants from 1950s and 60s store-brand denim — a higher rise through the waist, a generous seat and thigh, and a barely-there taper from the knee down to the hem. Roomy, easy, and squarely on tone for the wider-cut leg the season is calling for.

The fabric is the standout: an approximately 13oz non-selvedge denim, woven on a vintage shuttle loom that allows for irregular tension across the warp and weft. The result is a softer, slightly slubby surface with a fluffy hand and natural depth — a fabric that already feels broken in, and will only get better with time. The black is rope-dyed using a sulphur process, designed to fade unevenly with wear into the kind of weathered, sun-faded charcoal black that takes years to earn from anything mass-produced. Sanforized without water, with no skew or distressing — meaning what you see is what you get out of the box, and any character it picks up from here is entirely your own.
